One of the best times I can think of to do a family photo session is during a family vacation!I mean, how nice is it that everyone is relaxed and having fun doing things they love together?!What better way to commemorate that time than by having a family photo session to capture the moment?!Apparently the Ladd family agrees with me because that is just what they did when they left their home state of Texas to live it up in California for a bit.And live it up they did!But somehow between all of their packed adventures of Disneyland, baseball games, and playing in the waves, they found time to get together with us for their close ups.And we’re so glad they did because we were more than thrilled to help them remember this amazing trip to the California coast, when they were at the beach all together for the first time!Such a fun time for a family!Ladds, I hope that you enjoyed your trip out here to the fullest and that these photos will help you remember an amazing trip forever! Thanks for letting us be a part of it!Click to see the rest of the Ladd family photo session.
One of our very very favorite things about wedding photography is that we get to start with a couple at the beginning of their journey together (as early as their engagement!) and often get to follow along with them on their path to parenthood! We can’t tell you how much we love getting calls from our past brides and grooms asking us to take photos of their kids!Lucky for us, this was the case with Amanda and Javier! We met them when they were just a wee itty bitty engaged couple and now they are full grown parents!Somehow Amanda and Javier managed to make this shoot even MORE special by adding in Amanda’s family to make it a bigger picture of the generations of love that have been poured into their one year old little guy! That’s right… he’s one year old now! And we have the pictures to prove it in case you didn’t believe us!The extra cool part of this story is that while both us and Amanda and Javier have moved away from Arizona to opposite coasts, it just so happened that the one week this year they were traveling to AZ to visit family, was a week that Scottie and I (Breanna) were doing the same!
(I know these pictures say otherwise, but I promise that Arizona is not ALL teepees and horses!)
It’s amazing how well it worked out for us to do this shoot together!
Amanda and Javier, thank you so much for allowing us to be the ones to continue on this journey with you, despite the odds (or rather the distance) we had going against us to make it work!
We are so happy we got to see the three of you being a family together! It just melted our little photographer hearts! Hopefully our travel plans will coincide sometime in the future since we’d be more than thrilled to see once again how you guys have grown together as a family!

Callum is three months old and ready for his close up!
His parents opted for a three month old session instead of a really early on newborn one, to give him time to settle into his new environment and to give the three of them a chance to settle into their new lives and roles together!
And it was clear from the moment we got there that those three months together had served them well!
It was so fun to see this new little family working as such a synched team already! They had their flow together and their relationships were already formed in a way that only love and quality time combined together could do.
Callum’s parents were very on top of his nap times, feeding times, and most importantly, his moods! So we were able to build the session around when he’d be the most likely to be happy, cuddly, sleepy, or a combo of all three!
Their play times and cuddle times together were absolutely beautiful and you can tell that Cal is already fully in love with his new mommy and daddy!
Congratulations to the three of you! We are so happy we got to take a peek into the wonderful little world you three have already built together. It was fantastic and it made us so excited for you guys in the future! Congrats!

Having good friends just up the road from us is one of Scottie and my (Breanna) favorite things about where we live!
(Oh yeah, and this gorgeous beach that we can all walk to together!)
So what could be better than adding a new little friend into this whole deal?!That’s right, Scott and Ashley are pregnant! And we couldn’t be happier for them! We’re looking forward to lots of walks along the canals…… good laughs……beach days…… and so much more with Scott and Ashley and their new little family member they’re about to welcome into the world! But of course before she arrives, we’re making sure we spend some quality time with Scott and Ashley, since from what I hear, they’re about to get very busy!So before the baby sessions, comes the maternity session! A chance for us to capture these two lovely people as they are now… pre-baby and so excited for the new things to come!Scott and Ashley, we are so excited for you guys and are counting the days until we get to meet your new little girl! We’re all going to have so much fun together… we can’t wait!!!Click to see the rest of Scott & Ashley’s Beachy Maternity Session.
I can’t really think of a better way to spend a Saturday than by joining two friends who are joining to each other…… in the old west.Yes, I did say the old west. If I hadn’t seen the iPhone flashes lighting up the night as guests crammed to get their instas of this fabulous couple, I almost wouldn’t have known we were in present day times at this wedding!First of all there’s the bride, Chrissie, who is one of our dearly loved friends. I always knew she was beautiful. But I have to admit that I had no idea just how classically stunning and radiant she could be, until I saw her on this day! When she transformed into what I imagine her great, great, great grandma might have looked like once upon a time on her wedding day, I (Breanna) was completely blown away by her timeless beauty!Seriously Chrissie, mind blowing. I’m sure her dashing and dapper groom agreed! He happened to be looking quite debonaire himself with his bow tie and pocket watch, combined with a little old west swagger. The ceremony backdrop was of course just as lovely as the rest of this wedding, and was within walking distance of the reception taking place in Old Town San Diego. The ceremony and reception were close enough in fact, that they had a mariachi led parade of the bride and groom and all their guests as they all happily danced and spun their way over to the cocktail hour and reception that was happening at the time period appropriate, Cosmopolitan Hotel.
(Help spread Chrissie and Matt’s photos around by tagging yourself in them on Facebook!)
This parade wouldn’t have been complete without the paparazzi they inevitably drew, who I think truly believed Chrissie and Matt were celebrities. Which is appropriate, since on this day, they pretty much were. As it should be.At this point the guests were all ready to head in for a continuation of their merry making, but found that their plans were foiled by GUNFIRE!Yes, gunfire! But no worries, it was all taken care of by the heroes of the day, Chrissie and Matt, as their smoking guns lit up the town square not just once, but twice, with two fantastic Old West gun fight re-enactment shows. It was an idea that Chrissie and Matt concocted themselves, and just in time too as the whole gunfight show thing was just about to be outlawed in Old Town San Diego. In fact, Chrissie was the last one to ever legally fire a fake gun there! And it’s important to note that she highly recommends that every bride fires a fake gun on her wedding day, as she felt all the stress and tension of the day burst out of her fingertips as she pulled that trigger!Once the gun had fired, leaving them care free and ready to party, that is just what they did! And we celebrated right alongside them into the night. And it was sweet.Chrissie and Matt, thank you so much for being so loyal and encouraging to us over the years. Especially as we moved to a new city and found ourselves immediately embraced by Chrissie as a fast friend, as well as supported by her as we moved our business with us to this new and scary place! As much as we enjoyed hearing Chrissie’s interesting tales of romance woes during those first couple of years, I have to say that we MUCH prefer hearing her laugh and have a good time now that Matt has joined our threesome and turned our nights out into double dates. We are so very happy you’ve found each other! We’re very excited for you guys and can’t wait to see how your life together unfolds in the years to come! Thanks for bringing us into your lives, and into this amazing day in particular that we are happy to know we’ve now been able to help you remember for years to come.We love you both! Congratulations!Click to see the rest of Chrissie and Matt’s Old West wedding photos here.
