Keri and Jason’s Family Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

Just when we (Scott & Breanna) thought engagement sessions couldn’t get any more awesome….

….Keri and Jason added their two year old son into the mix!00690018

Ok, so maybe he wasn’t having as much fun as we were…

No, that’s not true, he was having a blast!

I mean, who wouldn’t?! Having mom and dad’s full attention…

…playing with them in the ocean…

…in the photobooth…

…or with whatever cool wall, beam, or pole happens to be near you that you think is awesome for whatever reason?! (He loved that stuff).

The days don’t get any better than that for a toddler!

Even if they involve lots of sand in the mouth and a pretty decent jean rash. What great day DOESN’T involve those two things?!

But in truth, it really wasn’t all about him. It was about his parents.

They are those other two people in the photos that you may not have noticed behind their son’s cuteness!

But they were the real stars for the day.

These are the two people who took a trip from Arizona to California with their two year old son, for the engagement session of their dreams that almost didn’t happen due to their trip taking a turn for the worst. These are the people who put in a lot of hard work to really earn their photos!

Seriously, my heroes!

(If you want to be the first to see Keri and Jason’s wedding photos when they go up, like our Facebook page !)

I hope you guys love the photos and that they were worth all you went through to get them! I hope the rest of your trip was great and that the rest of your time between now and the wedding is amazing as well, because we can’t wait to see you laughing and having fun again on your big day!

See you soon!

Carla and Will’s Perfect Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

When we first spoke to Carla and Will about what they were thinking for an engagement session, I (Breanna) could tell that they were super excited about it and wanted it to be perfect.

Thus ensued the quest for the perfect location!

It wasn’t an easy quest either! Sure, there’s a lot of interesting settings near Carla and Will’s home in Los Angeles, but the problem is that once you add in the traffic, those great spots suddenly seem super far apart!

Above all else, the spot that Carla and Will were really hoping to find was the perfect beach!

You know, the one that looks all surreal and dreamlike, with less trash than shells, and more kids than bums… that was the goal.

As I went through the checklist of LA area beaches in my mind, I couldn’t really think of one that fit that description, so we did the next best thing and chose the one that happened to be closest to us in hopes of making it LOOK like the stuff dreams are made of!

But before we headed off to our beach, we decided to make a little stop because we thought the Venice Canals would be the perfect place to start off this perfect session, with it’s many perfectly manicured yards and houses, and it’s perfectly unique looks!

So we did just that before heading over to catch a few shots of them with Will’s bike, since riding is something they love doing together!

(Want to be the first to see when their wedding photos go up? Like our Facebook page!).

After that we headed off to the “imperfect” beach of choice near the Santa Monica Pier.

As it turns out, a little imperfection can go a long way… ALMOST all the way to perfection in fact!

We found we had a lot to work with at the beach we ended up at after all!

Scottie and I couldn’t be happier with how the photos turned out from it, so Carla and Will, I hope you feel the same!

We can’t wait to hang out with you guys to get some perfect photos on your perfect wedding day! See you then!

Christine and Tom’s Chill Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

When we (Scott & Breanna) first met Christine and Tom, we knew immediately that they were the kind of people we wanted to work with.

We hit it off instantly and had a great time hearing about their wedding plans, as well as sharing in their excitement for the big day. Lucky for us, they felt the connection as well and asked us to be their wedding photographers!

When it came time for their engagement photo session, we were again reminded of how happy we were to be working with them!

We hung out in a cool Shakespearean pub before we started the session, and by the time we headed over to Balboa Park and pulled our cameras out, we felt like old friends!

Which is excellent because like we always say, most people are uncomfortable in front of a camera, so if they’re at least comfortable with the people holding the cameras, they will be able to relax and be themselves more… and that shows up in the photos!

(Like our Facebook page to be the first to see when their wedding photos go up!)

So Christine and Tom, I’m hoping you were as comfortable and chill with us as you seemed, and that you like the photos all the more for it! We can’t wait to spend more time hanging out with you on one of the most important days of your lives! See you then!

Lisa and Ted’s Vacation Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

When we (Scott and Breanna) first met Lisa and Ted as they were planning their California wedding, we couldn’t believe that we met them in California, yet we were all from Arizona!

“That’s perfect!” we cried, “we can do your engagement session when we head back to Arizona to shoot our next wedding there!”.

(You can probably tell from the BEACH photos that an Arizona engagement session wasn’t actually what happened!).

When a very sick Lisa called to cancel on the day we were supposed to do their AZ shoot, I think we were all a little bummed that our coincidence didn’t prove to be as perfect as we’d thought.

But sometimes things that seem like a bummer at first, can end up being good, right?

At least, that’s how it went with Ted and Lisa’s engagement session! We were disappointed we had to cancel our AZ shoot, but it turned out to be an awesome thing in the end, as Lisa and Ted tossed out their dreams for a desert engagement session in the hopes of capturing a beach one instead!

So they headed back out to Southern California to see us and get the photos they’d been so excited about!

And it just so happened that the new session date we chose had one of the most gorgeous sunsets EVER!!!!

Isn’t it amazing?!

That’s why I say I’m glad that our original session plans didn’t work out… not only did Lisa and Ted get a trip out of it, but we also got some of the most incredible sunset photos possible!

Thanks Lisa and Ted for being so flexible as we tried to make this session happen! I think it was worth your trip and I hope you agree!

See you on the big day!

Cherish and Matt’s Downtown LA Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

Cherish and Matt are idea people. They seem to have one grandiose vision after the next and planning their engagement session was no exception! I mean, who else can say that their engagement session involved skateboards, ukuleles, trains, and a fountain laser light show?!

But Cherish and Matt decided to go big or go home, so we got it all!

We started out by taking a trip to Union Station, which is definitely an amazing place to be for photos!

You can’t get much more romantic than Union Station!

Whether it’s running after your love at the last second, or looking at a mysteriously attractive stranger from across the way, whatever the romantic moment may be, you can bet you’ve seen it in a movie! (P.S. I didn’t see either of those things happen while we were there).

What I did see, were two good looking people who decided to bust out their guitar and ukulele to play for tips! Oh wait, that was Cherish and Matt!

No, they didn’t get any big tippers, just the memories…. and maybe herpes from that wall they were leaning against… but that’s besides the point.

After Union Station (and before we all went to a midnight dinner at a 100 year old speakeasy), we headed over for fountain play time!

OK, maybe I exaggerated when I said there were fountain laser light shows, but they DID change colors, AND you could walk through them… so yeah, they were still pretty awesome!

So Cherish and Matt, you did it. Your grand engagement session ideas, came to fruition and paid off big time!

The only downside is that now you’ve set a pretty high bar for my expectations about your wedding day! But don’t worry, I know you won’t disappoint!

See you then!
