No one’s happier about life than someone who’s finally done with high school… and it shows in these pictures!

Hilarity meets gorgeous… Kat’s senior session

The first time we met Kat she was wearing the UGLIEST sweater I have ever seen!  As mean as that sounds, don’t freak out, she was at an ugly sweater party.  She also had on a golfer’s hat and a giant dollar sign ring… she was stylin’ for sure!

The reason we were at this party is not because of our affinity for hideous clothing, but because we had our photobooth set up there!  Don’t worry, she had a much better wardrobe when she showed up for her senior pictures!

After that initial meeting, Kat was kind enough to tell her family about us, which resulted in us shooting her brother’s wedding (thanks Kat!).  Alas the time finally came when it was Kat’s turn to have the full spotlight… her senior pictures!

We were very excited for this session since we already knew what kind of craziness Kat was capable of (we have plenty of photos to prove it).

What we failed to remember about her was how freaking GORGEOUS she is!

Hey, it’s not our fault we forgot… it’s really very difficult to get over the multiple ugly sweaters we’ve seen her wearing at this point!  OK, but seriously LOOK at her!

There were several times when I (Breanna) would have my camera posed and ready to shoot and I just had to stop everything I was doing to tell her how stunning she looked… I couldn’t get over it!

So don’t worry Kat, the next time I think of you, I’ll picture your beautiful smile and shining eyes rather than a hat with a golf ball glued on top.

As far as Kat’s craziness… that was all just as we remembered it!  We had soooo much fun with her!

Kat is basically a beautiful non-stop barrel of laughs.

Of course it helped that she had her mom and one of her best friends there egging her on!

Just so you know Kat, you owe us for some of the poses we caught you in that we chose to keep off Facebook! 😉

All in all, this was a fabulous session!! We had so much fun with our model and her little entourage! Thanks to all of you for making this such a great session!  We’ll have to call you the next time we’re needing a little fun in our lives… or just people to carry our stuff around for us again. 😉

Baseball and music collide: Keegan’s senior session

I have to admit that when we were driving to meet Keegan for his session both Scottie and I were a little nervous.

You see, we LOVE doing senior sessions, but we tend to work with girls a lot more than guys.  And even though they’re the same age, those happen to be 2 very different groups of people… shocking, isn’t it.

Luckily, Keegan was the perfect person to ease us back into working with senior guys after our long female driven hiatus.  He was really easy going and friendly and he made both of us feel comfortable immediately… which is actually our job, so hopefully we did the same for him!

(We had to get a few mom shots in there too!).

Keegan loves baseball…

…and music.

So we decided to combine the two by having him wear his uniform for some photos…

…and by picking our location based around the music wall that I love so much!

Unfortunately, we realized a little too late that one of his best friends recently had her session with us at the same place (oops).  Since the “twinsie” look isn’t really one that either one of them is into, we had the extra challenge of shooting the same location from a totally different viewpoint in order to make it look like a completely different place!

(This is the “up” view).

(This is the “down” view).

We long ago decided that whenever we’re forced with a creative challenge… good things happen!

So Keegan, I think you’ll agree that your session is one of those “good things”!

Thanks for being so easy to work with and for having such a good time with your photo session, you made our job very fun for us! 🙂

Good luck with all your future plans!

“The Top 25 Radiant Photos of 2010: Family/ Senior Sessions”

39 votes

OK, so there was no way around giving this one it’s own category.  It had so many more votes than the rest that it stands alone!  Good job little caped crusaders!

10-20 votes

This photo received one of our most insightful comments: “The shadow is like her inner self. LIKE!” – Britney Corbitt .  It makes me think of Peter Pan or something!

I can’t even tell you how many people told me that this girl is beautiful!  Whether it was people looking at photos over my shoulder, or comments on the album… everyone agrees, she is absolutely stunning!!

I (Breanna) picked out those hats myself at Michaels and saved them for just the right photo session….I chose the right one because these boys loved them!

I think this picture is going to be a staple.  We’ve already done another session for this family and they wanted to duplicate the shot with her pink converse on instead!  You can’t beat the leg rolls in this one though!!

One of my favorite comments ever: “Nate votes for this one “cause there’s six of us” and the other boys are giggling – “that’s me, hee hee” “lots of Nates and Andrews, ha ha!”- Molly Ellison (the mom of these 3 sweet boys).

6-9 votes

Whether they spelled it “color” or “colour” people just couldn’t get enough of it in this picture!

These boys were so excited to wear their cool hats! 🙂

This is another pose that we’ve duplicated!  This is actually round 2 of it!  The first one was taken at her Trash the Dress session after her wedding where she was surrounded by mud and fall leaves…and here we are at her maternity session re-living the moment!  I promise, there’s a legit baby bump there, this pose just happens to hide it well! 🙂

She’s a budding photographer, so we let her borrow a camera for this shot!

This is one of my personal favorites so I’m glad it won fair and square so that I didn’t have to consider fixing the contest!

You can’t beat a mother/daughter tea party… how could it not have won?!

By the way, we don’t have many spots left for 2011 senior sessions, so if you like what you see here send us a message to book yours soon!  Be sure to check out our seniors site if you’ve never been there before!

And that’s the end of our Best of 2010 photo contest! Congratulations to all our winners… we already knew you deserved to win!

If you missed the winners in the Weddings/ Unique Session category, make sure you click here to see it… it has some of my favorite stuff we’d done yet!  Make sure you like our page on Facebook to follow along with us and see what new things we come up with for 2011.

Kelsie’s a winner… and she has the senior session to prove it!

Her name was called and the crowd went wild.  This is the scene, as we heard it described, when Kelsie won herself a free senior session with Radiant Photography!

We gave away a couple of sessions to help out the high school group at a local church and Kelsie… who had actually already scheduled a session with us prior to winning… was the lucky one!

Her mom, who was already prepared to shell out the cash for her previously scheduled upcoming session, might technically be the winner in this scenario!

Which is probably the reason why she was the one to be heard screaming above all the rest when Kelsie’s name was called.  They seriously described a very funny scene about when they won and it makes me laugh a second time as I recall the story!

The scene around her actual senior session was not much less chaotic than when she won the session!  The reason being… it’s Christmas card season in photography land and everyone was out and about capturing the memories of their 3 year olds screaming -because they know they’ll miss it when the kid turns 16- all the while Kelsie’s attempting to keep a straight face while the little kids around her are being hilarious.

It’s not exactly the way you imagine your top model-esque senior session to be!  It was CRAZY!

The lame thing is that the reason Kelsie chose the Mesa Arts Center for her location is because none of her friends have theirs done there and she wanted to be different… but as soon as we arrived there, we were sad to find that we weren’t being as unique as we thought because apparently everyone else had the same idea!

We were able to reassure Kelsie that she was in fact unique because she was definitely the only one being photographed who was over 4 ft tall and who wasn’t wearing a red and green velvet dress with giant bows in her hair (because she was the only over the age of 7).

We were further encouraged when we found that majority of the actual locations we chose for shooting around the area were completely different than what everyone else was using…

(inside the parking garage)

(inside the elevator)

…not to mention, we continued shooting at least an hour after everyone else had run out of light and gone home.

With our handy dandy Canon 5D Mark II camera bodies that provide quite the low light luxury, and add to that my little lighting bug I have (whom I also call “Scottie”)… running out of sunlight isn’t really an issue for us.

So don’t worry Kelsie, despite the fact that other people chose your same location, your pictures are definitely still unique!  I guarantee you there wasn’t a family who left there that day who ended up with pictures like these!

You were an excellent model and we had a blast laughing with you at all the cute little kids around us that day!

Thanks for making our job so easy!!  We couldn’t be happier to have a winner who was as excited about it as you (and your mom) were!  Your excitement about our photos totally made our day… our week actually.

Thanks for being such a huge fan (as well as a great stalker on Radiant’s Facebook page) and for calling us to help you remember this great time in your life!  Happy graduation!
