Robin and Alex’s Artsy Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

Scottie and I (Breanna), met Robin and Alex when we had just moved to Los Angeles and were at one of our friends’ famous potluck dinners!

It turns out that we actually met them right when they’d first started dating, but we thought they’d been together for years already because they just seemed to fit together so well!

So it wasn’t much of a surprise when we found out they were engaged, and it was quite the honor when they called us to do their engagement photos! Especially in the particularly awesome location they chose!

If you have never been to the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles, well you are about to wish you had! Especially if you’re the photography or artsy type!

That’s why Alex and Robin chose it for their engagement session!

I mean, how could they not have?!  Amazing old brick buildings….

… the restaurant they went to the night they got engaged…

… and of course giant rats!

I mean it’s a dream come true for you whether you’re an artist looking for a wall that needs some decoration, the creative type who wants to find quaint little cafes,  or just a homeless person looking for a welcoming place to sleep! Whatever your thing is, the arts district has something for you!

Thank you Alex and Robin for giving us the honor of doing your engagement photos!!! We were so happy to be a part of this major moment for you two and we hope that this happy and exciting time in your life is just the first of many more to come! See you at the next potluck!

Lisa and Bob’s Home on the Ranch Session (by Scott & Breanna)

Scottie and I (Breanna) have been photographers for quite awhile now.

…..and yet there was one type of photo shoot we’d never done and didn’t even know existed for that matter….

…animal head shots! So imagine our surprise when Lisa & Bob called us up to do that very thing!

Let me give you a little more background here! Lisa and Bob own one of our all time favorite wedding venues to shoot at…. The Condor’s Nest Ranch, in Pala, California. If you don’t believe me that it’s one of the best wedding venues around, here are some of our photos from weddings there to help prove it.

It’s this amazing ranch up in the mountains that is complete with Lisa and Bob’s amazing vintage collection of just about everything you could want, not to mention a gorgeous green house, old cars, a beautiful barn, and of course… the animals who live there!

So when it came time for Lisa and Bob to get some new family photos done they called us up and then mentioned, “oh yeah, and we’d really love some head shots of the animals if you don’t mind… and we promise we won’t make you do chickens!”

(No, she didn’t lie, there aren’t any official chicken head shots we had to do!)

So we were like, “Um, OK I guess we can do animal head shots?” Well it turns out that we could do it and I must say, Scottie was particularly talented at it!

Of course it helped that we both made a new BFF!

(That was literally the only way Scottie could shoot as long as his new bestie was hanging around… which was always!)

Lisa’s little friend was more on the subtle side… except for when he gave kisses!

But then again that MIGHT have just been a permanent condition!

Besides getting animal head shots, we also got some great photos of Lisa loving their property and all that it has to offer, as well as a few of Lisa and Bob enjoying it together (once he was done with multiple property tours that day since everyone and their mother wants to get married there!).

I could go on and on about how amazing The Condor’s Nest Ranch is, but I think it’s better if I let these pictures and the ones from  the weddings we’ve shot there do the talking!

Lisa and Bob, Congratulations on creating one of the best wedding venues in Southern California and for being so amazing to work with that we can’t get enough of being a part of weddings with you!

Thanks for providing us with some of the most amazing photos of our career…. and now that we’ve done the animal head shots, with some of the most UNIQUE photos of our career!

We’ve loved spending time with the two of you, your staff, your many pets, and of course with your gorgeous patio view! Thanks for giving us the kind of chill, gorgeous, unique, fun, and all round perfect places to spend so much of our time at! We hope to see you there many more times in the coming years!

Ashley and Thacher’s Valentine’s Engagement Session (by Scott & Breanna)

You know the feeling when you’re trying to plan an amazing and memorable Valentine’s Day, only all the restaurants you call are booked, you’ve seen all the good movies, and it’s too late to do anything really creative? Well I’d like to say that we (Scott & Breanna) saved Ashley and Thacher from that very frustrated Valentine’s Day fate!

If you thought cupid was the only one running around like crazy on Valentine’s Day, think again because Ashley, Thacher, Scottie, and myself were also doing our best to conjure up some love and then capture it in photos!

I think we succeeded on our quest!

But really, how could you fail on Valentine’s Day? Everywhere we went in Laguna there were couples all dressed up, cuddling together, smiling as big as possible… I mean it would’ve taken a miracle for Ashley and Thacher to resist the Valentine’s spirit!

While I adore these pictures, I have to humbly admit that Scottie and myself can’t take full credit for them. Don’t get me wrong, we were definitely on our A game that day! BUT that little something special added in there is just the magic in the air that I never fully realized Valentine’s Day has!

Another factor I can’t take credit for in these photos is that Ashley and Thacher were up for whatever it took to get the perfect photo (even if that meant hopping into the Pacific in February!).

Despite their ability to absolutely kill it on the “perfect” photos, they are such a cute couple together that it’s actually the “imperfect” photos of them that I love the best!

Ashley and Thacher were definitely naturals at this whole photo session thing, but what we loved the most about working with them is that they are people we truly enjoyed spending time with! I guess technically speaking we were working, but it definitely didn’t feel like it because we were having so much fun with them!

Thanks for sharing your Valentine’s Day with us! I think it’s safe to say you achieved the almost unachievable by nailing a perfectly amazing and memorable Valentine’s Day.
