Sam's Windy City Senior Session (by Josh & Kelley)

Dear friends, this is Sam.

I know, I know, gorgeous right?!

As soon as Josh and I (Kelley) met up with her for her senior session, I asked her if she was nervous to be in front of the camera.  “A little”, was her response.

Well, apparently she was good at hiding the little bit of nerves she had, because she did amazing and looks completely confident in all of the shots!

After talking about locations for the shoot, Sam decided that she’d like to take her senior photos in downtown Phoenix.  What a wonderful decision that was!

At first we were all a bit worried about the semi-heavy wind we were experiencing that day.  You see, a blustery day can make for some awesome shots like this one:

However, with just one more click of the shutter, that shot can turn into this:

(Strangely enough, I (Kelley) actually really like this shot!)

Luckily, when you’re downtown, all of the tall buildings do a great job of blocking the wind, so we were able to forget all about the breezy day and get some awesome photos.

During the session, Josh and I talked with Sam and learned that she’s going to be a fellow Sun Devil soon!  In other words, she’s about to start attending the best school ever! (We can’t help it, Josh and I LOVED our time at ASU).

However, it seems that Sam’s home is a house divided.  You see, her father has a mantra that goes something like this, “Sparky is bad. Wilbur is good.”  Yup, he’s a die hard U of A fan.

Lucky for Sam she’s not the first one in her family to dip her toes into the enemy waters of ASU.  Her older sister is already attending ASU, so hopefully her dad has had time to warm up to the idea of having Sun Devils in the family.

Sparky and Wilbur aside, I’m sure your parents are beyond proud of you Sam.  After talking to you during your session, Josh and I could both tell that you’ve got a good head on her shoulders, and you’re going to do great things in the future.

Congratulations on your graduation, and good luck with your future at ASU!

Becky and Aditya`s long awaited wedding

Friends forever… and then a little bit more than that. And a little bit more than that… and so on and so on until Becky and Aditya found themselves at their wedding day!

They’d always planned to be at one another’s wedding as they met each other’s significant others over the years. But if you had told them they’d be marrying each other, they never would’ve believed you!

They first met in a dorm room at Pomona college and went through all the college experiences side by side (with maybe a boyfriend or girlfriend squeezed in between them from time to time).

They graduated and continued on their merry ways, all the while their friends and family members were scratching their heads wondering why these two weren’t heading out along their merry ways TOGETHER!

(Like our Facebook page to tag yourself in some of the photos!).

As fate would have it, Becky and Aditya eventually caught on to the thought that their friends and family had held on to all along and they fell in love.

So about 19 years after they first met and became friends, they said their vows and turned in their friendship bracelets for wedding rings (no, they didn’t really have friendship bracelets, they are not 12).

As you can imagine, such an occasion called for quite a celebration! Best friends getting married is the best kind of party you want to be at! So after their beautiful traditionally Jewish ceremony was over.

Everyone was soon to be found living it up as they partied at the Phoenician in Phoenix, AZ next to some pretty unbelievable decorations!

Becky does letterpress so she handmade all kinds of little pretties that could be seen lying around the place. Throughout the whole wedding, paper replaced a variety of features including centerpiece flowers, guest favors (coasters), and even the contents of the flower girls baskets as they threw paper instead of petals!

Becky and Aditya opted for long tables instead of the typical round look and the resulting centerpieces that cascaded down the lengthy stretch of each table were absolute masterpieces that turned out to be one of my all time favorite reception centerpieces!

On the sides of the room were the ice cream bars (great idea!) that could only be rivaled by the food and drink displays that graced their cocktail hour!

In other words, this wedding had the works! Love, friendship, family…

…elephants on tables…

…the couple lifted up in chairs over the dance floor as they danced the horah…

…family heirlooms (my favorite being a piece her mother’s wedding dress that the bride had sewn inside hers in the shape of a little flower!)…

….and of course absolutely stunning multicolored Saris worn by many!

To Becky and Aditya, you guys had an incredible wedding that we were very honored to be chosen to be a part of. We loved all your family and friends and we couldn’t be happier to see you guys starting off your lives together knowing that you have such a great group of people supporting you.

Congratulations and we hope to see you soon!

Kim and Tru’s Genuine Wedding Day (by Josh & Kelley)

Josh and I (Kelley) first got to know Kim and Tru during our initial meeting at a Starbucks, and from the moment we met them, we knew we wanted to be a part of their big day.

It may sound cheesy, but Kim and Tru are some of the nicest and most genuine people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. As soon as you meet them, you feel like you’re friends.

During that first meeting they told us all about how they met, how much they loved each other, and how excited they were about getting married.  Josh and I couldn’t help but be excited for them too!

So, when their big day finally came, Josh and I were thrilled to show up and capture all of their special moments.

Moments like reading the sweet notes that Kim and Tru wrote to one another.

And smiling anxiously in those few moments right before the ceremony began.

Tru kissing Kim for the first time as husband and wife.

Or laughing out loud as they busted out some silly moves on the dance floor.

Each and every moment of their wedding day was genuine, including the moments that Kim and Tru shared with their friends and family.

Real moments like bridesmaids laughing together before the wedding started.

Giving teary-eyed toasts.

Enjoying father/daughter and mother/son dances.

And, one of my favorite moments of the night, Tru dancing to “Rhinestone Cowboy” with his grandmother.

Apparently, when Tru was a little boy, he really wanted to dance to this song with his grandma. So, one day while at an event, they put the song on just for them, and little Tru, too shy to dance in front of everyone, left his grandma all alone on the dance floor.  Tru decided to make it up to her and finish that dance on his wedding day.  It may have been one of the sweetest things ever seen.

While witnessing all of these moments (and many more), Josh and I realized that Kim and Tru are an even better match than we first thought.

Not only do they love each other, but they are willing to share their love with the wonderful friends and family that surround them.

With that much love and happiness floating around, we know that Kim and Tru are going to fully enjoy the new life that they have started together.

Congratulations you two, and thank you so much for letting me and Josh be a part of your wonderful wedding day!

Fun at Ashlee and Jason’s Botanical Garden Engagement Session

Is there a couple out there who has more fun together than Ashlee and Jason? Mmmm, possibly, but I think not.

We promised Ashlee from the very beginning of their engagement session that we’d get some good, standard, normal pictures of the two of them.

Little did we know how difficult that would prove to be.

No, not because they are weirdos or camera phobics or anything like that… just because they have so much fun together that we felt like joy killers saying, “OK, stop playing and just look at the camera and smile!”

I mean, who does that to two people having so much together, right?!

Alright, I am exaggerating a bit.

Ashlee and Jason can stop laughing long enough to do regular day to day stuff like have a conversation or smile for a picture…

…I think it’s just not what they PREFER to be doing.

They prefer being spontaneous and fun.

Yes, most people prefer that, but Ashlee and Jason actually DO it! So I say, more power to them!

(Here’s Jason enjoying the little tiny worm we found! There were also bunny rabbits and large lizards hanging out with us that day, but we didn’t hold any of those).

Obviously, working with people this happy (and in love I might add) is AWESOME!

We can’t think of a better way to spend our day than to hang out with fun loving people who bring us in on their fun as much as they can while we try to be “professional” and do our very serious work (yeah right).

So thank you both for allowing us to spend a lovely afternoon with you at the Botanical Gardens in Tucson, capturing the joy you two experience when you’re together.

I have a feeling that on your wedding day, you’re going to surpass your own records in how happy you can be… and we can’t wait to be there to see that happen!

Ross and Megan’s very sunny and very happy wedding day

When Ross and Megan planned their beautiful springtime wedding that would take place on a stunning golf course

…with their reception completing the night under the stars….

…I’m guessing they didn’t picture it being 103 degrees outside! But that’s what they got… and they just decided to roll with it.

They didn’t let it ruin their day, they just drank a lot of water and made frequent appearances into the most heavily air conditioned rooms they could find. And their bridal party were troopers as well!

Actually it did turn about being OK. They did have a bit of a sweaty ceremony but the beauty of it distracted everyone from their sunburns.

And by the time evening had rolled around the air had started to cool down and their spectacular patio reception turned out to be everything they had dreamed of.

I LOVED these chalkboards that Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club had set up. Megan and Ross transformed into fun decor by writing table numbers as well as using them like you see below!)

If was a beautiful way to finish out Ross and Megan’s perfectly planned wedding that included everything from singing toasts (which actually wasn’t part of Megan’s plan, that was a surprise from her dad)…

… to hand rolled cigars…

…to fireworks.

They had done it. Megan and Ross had braved the heat, planned a perfect wedding, enjoyed their big day to the fullest, and of course… married the loves of their lives.

What more could you ask for out of a wedding?!

I have to take a second to talk about their reveal moment, or “first look”.

The reason is because just as Megan was getting ready to walk down the aisle to get married, she turned to me and said, “Breanna, thank you SO much for convincing us to see each other before the wedding! I don’t know what we were thinking when we were considering not doing it! I’m so much less nervous than I would be otherwise right now and it made our day so much better to have shared more of it together. Thank you!” And then she headed down the aisle to meet her groom, whom she was no less happy to be seeing for the second time that day!

If you’re planning your wedding and you’re still not sure about whether or not you should see one another before the wedding, take a moment to educate yourself about it so you can make an informed decision by reading what Megan read before her wedding, “The Reveal Moment: to have or not to have”.

To Ross and Megan: I really am so incredibly proud of how much you guys decided to chill and forget about the small stuff so you could focus on each other and the relationships surrounding you. I’m especially happy you chose to do that because you guys having fun means that we get to have a ton of fun with you!

We really enjoyed hanging out with you both and being a part of something so incredibly important to you.

Thanks or choosing us and trusting us.

I hope these pictures help you remember this day perfectly for the rest of your lives!
