No one’s happier about life than someone who’s finally done with high school… and it shows in these pictures!

Megan’s senior session

Megan was a really fun senior to work with.  She had her own style and we LOVED it!!  We didn’t even really have to pose her.  She exuded confidence as she stood, sat, or lay down exactly how she would if there was not a camera recording her every move.

Megan is really into competitive ballroom dancing, so naturally she wanted her senior pictures to show what she spent most of her time doing in high school (I’m sure studying went somewhere in there as well of course).  We went up to her dance studio to do a quick mini  session before heading off to DC Ranch (which is a shopping center in Scottsdale, Arizona).

My favorite part of this session was that she basically just allowed us to capture her as she really is.  Our goal is always to take pictures that allow a person’s family and friends to see them and say, “wow, that’s SO them!”.  Only, that gets difficult since almost everyone is camera shy.  Megan was like, “here I am, take a picture, hope you like it”.  And we did.

Senior session with Lindsey

We met up with Lindsey and a couple of her family members at the Tempe Beach Park.  Lindsey had seen some other sessions we’d done there and she fell in love with that location!  We started out at the park to get some of the shots she knew she wanted and moved up to the place she was most excited about… the railroad tracks.  Lucky for her, at this point we were still doing sessions on the railroad tracks.  We have since found out that it’s illegal and photographers are starting to get fined for it!  A bunch of distracted people hanging out on active tracks with killer trains speeding towards them is illegal?!  Go figure!;-)For all of you who are so disappointed to hear this news… don’t worry, we’re in search of some INACTIVE tracks near our usual locations so that we can still get that look for you!

So after the life-threatening railroad stunt, we decided to take them on a hike.  A pretty LONG hike!  Scottie was totally excited to get them down to Mill Ave. and we underestimated the distance between the park and the back alleyways he had in mind.  So hats off to our good sports who trusted us enough to make the trek over there!  I think they were happy they did when they saw some of the street shots he got with Lindsey on the corner of 5th and Mill with cars whizzing behind her.  I think I can say they were pretty impressive without being arrogant… after all, I was just a human light stand for those pictures!

Thanks again to Lindsey and family for working well with us and for making our photo session a fun time for all!

Lenna- our senior rep for 2009

Lenna is a graduating high school senior this year who found us on facebook.  We talked back and forth for awhile before we asked her to be our senior rep this year.  Basically that means she’s out spreading our name to earn herself some print credit… so if you know Lenna, help her out and book a senior photography session with us!;-)

We had a great time at this session!  It was our first senior for 2009 so we were excited to start doing seniors again.  Plus she let us experiment a little bit.  For one, she let us accessorize her (bold move, Lenna)!  I got to have a little bit of fun shopping for some big, gaudy, and vintage type of accessories to makeup our little model with.  We just wanted to try it out and see how it looked in case other girls might want a few fun little visuals added to their pictures.  And I think they turned out lovely!

The session was also awesome because Lenna is very interested in photography herself, so she was very understanding of all that went into it and she was a great participant in the art of it all.  Plus, she liked our work so she decided to trust us and just go with our suggestions.  That makes our lives so much easier because I have to admit… in the beginning sometimes even I questioned a few of Scottie’s ideas and then I would see the picture and I was like “ohhh, NOW I get it!” And I know he did the same with me.  So it was a total relief to have someone who believes in us as artists, who didn’t challenge every idea we had!

Overall, we had a great time with you, Lenna.  Thanks for being our rep!
