Already married? Want a chance to re-live your wedding? Try a Unique Session!

So what happens when you give Radiant Photographers the perfect location, perfect lighting, perfect timing, and the perfect level of creative freedom?  Well…let us show you because that’s basically the definition of our Unique Sessions!  A Unique Session can be added to our wedding packages… OR if you are already married but couldn’t afford the kind of wedding photography you wanted, you loathe that frizzy perm you got the day before your wedding, your photographer didn’t get certain photos, or if you just REALLY miss your wedding dress… the Unique Session might be a solution for you!

Unique Sessions are a chance to get your wedding dress on (your hubby can just wear a nice suit or something), and  go to whatever location you want to give us a chance to get some of the best photos possible!  On the wedding day, we are really out of control of the situation and this often gets in the way of us being able to do everything we’d like to with your photos so the Unique Session hands the control back to us so we can let our creativity really shine!

Unique Sessions can be done like Abigail’s session which was more of a “trash the dress” kind of idea.

Abigail wanted to capture the beauty of Pine, AZ where she lived and she was all about showcasing every aspect… even the kinds that put her dress at risk!  She figured that she had already used it and now it was just going to be shoved away in a closet forever (there’s maybe a 1% chance her daughter would want to wear it when she got married), so she might as well get the coolest pictures possible to remember it by!  And as a side note, her dress did end up being fine after a post session dry cleaning! You can also do a Unique Session like Tracy and Paul who got married over a year ago and just wanted to get some more snazzy photos to add to their collection of wedding photos!

tracy_paul_sc0407We shot Tracy and Paul’s wedding in Sedona, but they live in LA and like Abigail, they LOVE where they live!  So they wanted to get some photos of them hanging out in the city they affectionately call home. And of course we were all too happy to take a trip to hang out with them in California! There’s nothing better than making friends as a result of art, love, and the shared emotional experience of a wedding day, so we are always so excited when we get to work with a great couple like Tracy and Paul and then get a chance to stay friends even after their wedding! Click to see more from Tracy and Paul’s Unique Session!

One of the most stressful aspects of a wedding day is a rushed, crammed, schedule.  We feel like we are always dashing around trying to beat out the sunset, hoping no one is running behind, and attempting to make the cocktail hour as short as possible on the wedding day, all the while trying to calm down brides who are worried their schedule is too far behind we won’t have time to get the kind of photos they want.

If you book our “Unique Package” (which includes the Unique Session) then we get some photos on your wedding day, but we also know we’re going to get a second chance to spend more time with you to get the kind of stuff we REALLY want.  So if the schedule doesn’t go exactly as planned on your big day, you can relax and know that we’ll have plenty of time later for photos and that much less stress can make a huge difference in how much you enjoy your day!

This is what Mike and Emily chose to do for their wedding in La Jolla, California!

unique0123It was a perfect option for them because they traveled from Arizona to California for their wedding just to be able to get married in such a beautiful place.  So having the chance to take the time to actually drive around and get pictures in all different stunning CA locations, was something they were thrilled to do!  Click to see more from Emily and Mike’s Unique Session!

As you can see, when we say “Unique Session” really do mean unique! We work to design your session with the perfect blend between your personal style and our artistic abilities.  You can be an engaged couple planning a low-budget wedding who just want to get some amazing photos after your wedding at your favorite look out point.  Or you can be a couple who’s been married for 5 years, who want to re-connect with one another and feel like you’re getting married again!  Since they are so unique, they are for anyone with a wedding dress, who wants some more photos in it!

Contact us and we’ll help you dream up your own perfect Unique Session!!

Meet the King and Queen of the Radiant Photobooth

I would like you to meet Matt.

We were the photographers at Matt & Amy’s wedding.

00352(see, this is Amy).

Matt was also a groomsman at a wedding with the Radiant Photobooth.

Where Amy was a bridesmaid as well.

Then Matt was at a party with the Radiant Photobooth….

img_7436…a Christmas party…

img_7437…with Amy.

Now Matt has earned the title “King of the Radiant Photobooth“!img_7439Amy is of course (by rightful earning), Queen.

Thank you, Your Majesties, for helping the Radiant Photobooth be all that it can be!

We want to see you in there again sometime very, very soon.

The Christmas Extravaganza of a Lifetime…

If you saw these photobooth pictures on our Facebook page, you were probably left with quite a few things to ponder…

Like… how did we get Buddy the Elf to make an appearance?

Can she eat her candy cane costume?

Why is Santa showing his butt off… and doing the Macarena?

What exactly is… that? A person? A faun? Someone distantly related to elves?

Why do those elves look slightly intimidating?

Why did they invite a zombie to the party?

Is this a wanted kiss?

Is he jumping or just really that tall?

While we probably can’t answer any of those questions.  We can tell you a little bit more about what was going on here.  The High School Ministry at Scottsdale Bible church asked us to bring our photobooth to their Christmas Extravaganza party!  And really there is no better word than “Extravaganza” to describe the goings on at this particular party! (Fan us on Facebook so you can tag yourself in the photos).

In case you were wondering, yes, there was an ugly sweater and a costume contest.

img_7360(Ms. Candy Cane here one the costume contest)!

This was the first time we didn’t really need the props we bring for the Radiant Photobooth!

The theme of the party was “Techno Christmas” so everyone had a bunch of glowsticks and at random times they’d turn out the lights and turn up techno renditions of Christmas songs for everyone to boogie down to.  This was all complete with a fog machine and red and green spotlights. It was equal parts insane and awesome!

They had a bunch of performances including… 3 grown men dressed as elves doing an interpretive dance, Buddy the elf singing a hilarious Chrismas Medley, and a Christmas music video competition (the Seniors won).

img_7537(There was also a skit in which this group made up a family… of some sort).

And all of this was complete with tons hot chocolate, egg nog, cookies, and general sugar all round.  It was the Christmas experience of a lifetime.  I vote that it should definitely be televised next year.  It’d be a better Christmas special than Dick Clark, Jay Leno, Ryan Seacrest, or any of those guys put together could do!

Julie and Andrew are engaged!

Julie had always wanted to go up the ladder in a firetruck.  Lucky for her, she happened to be dating a fireman!  And apparently Andrew’s a genius fireman because when the time came to propose he decided that would be the perfect way to do it.  He must have been right, because she said yes!

After all the tears, celebrating, and beginning stages of wedding planning were over, emails were exchanged, meetings were had, and Julie and Andrew picked Radiant Photography to be there to share in their big day!

Of course, before that day arrived, we needed to go out and do our “practice photo session” (aka engagement session).  We call it practice because engagement sessions help us get to know the couple a little better (their style, how to make them laugh for the camera, if they like long walks on the beach, etc.).  It also gets the couple used to the idea of having the paparazzi following them around everywhere and helps them learn to ignore the cameras being shoved into their faces so they can keep enjoying the moment!

When we asked Julie and Andrew to customize their engagement session to fit them, we never expected them to pull it off the way they did! Firefighter Andrew (again… he must be a genius) got us special permissions that we have never had for a photo session before!  As you can tell by the first photo, getting to use the firetruck was a definite plus (and it gave them a chance to re-live the proposal moment)!

Here are some others we got to take around the station…

0027200353003910044(Since we were doing all the fireman stuff, I thought it was necessary to get one cheesy picture with it.  They didn’t necessarily agree with me… but they let me have my fun anyways! Ha.  I hope this one doesn’t embarrass you guys TOO much)! 😉

The other cool thing we got to do was go gallivanting around in this abandoned church that had burned down earlier that week (and yes, it was approved as “safe” for us)!

Scottie is the kind of person that is interested in absolutely everything.  He always wants to explore and learn about everything around him.  Needless to say, a burned down building with all kinds of artifacts (and what he would call “treasures”) to discover and identify… was pretty much like heaven to him!

I had to keep reminding him that we were supposed to be taking pictures because he kept getting caught up in his own little world while he was checking out all there was to be found in this new land (“Goonies never say die” right?!).  I did happen to think that the half burned Bible and hymnal pages were pretty cool though.  They definitely could’ve been mistaken for a pirate treasure map with the edges burned like that.

Julie is the type of Radiant Photography fan that we LOVE!  She keeps up with all our Facebook posts (fan us if you want to see all our new pics and blog posts) and she knows our style well.  She’s been following along with all our engagement and wedding stories and storing them in the back of her mind while dreaming up her own (which we think is awesome)!  One of her favorite things that we do are the sunset pics in wide open fields.

So when we asked what she wanted for her session, she was so excited to finally get a chance to have those type of shots that she loves with her and Andrew in them!  And of course, we were very pleased to oblige such a hardcore fan as her (I don’t think I mention nearly enough how much we appreciate our fans)! 🙂

So here are Julie and Andrew’s sunset pictures. Go ahead, take the time to imagine you and your fiance’ (future or present!) in these…

(This is one of my favorite photos that I’ve ever taken and processed.  This one and that tree one that everyone thinks is fake… and it’s SO not!).

Julie and Andrew, we are SO glad we finally get the chance to work with people who have been our fans for so long.  We can’t say enough how much we’ve grown to love you guys already (and we haven’t even shot your wedding yet)!  You are both such amazing, fun (fun times 3 actually), caring individuals and we feel priviledge to not only meet such wonderful people in our lifetimes, but to get to work with you as well!  Getting to know people like you is the reason we do what we do.  Thanks for making our art and the work we pour our hearts into, so much more valuable to us.

Congratulations Katie & Lawrence!

This was definitely a wedding to remember!  Katie put so much time and attention into planning her dream wedding and I think it came out just perfectly (I hope she would agree).  However, she and Lawrence had quite a few little mishaps that reared their ugly heads in the weeks preceding the wedding, and they handled them with style!0048

The biggest issue being that Lawrence broke his ankle right before the wedding!  I have to say I was very proud of how he handled it the day of!  He did as much as he could from posing for pictures to dancing a tiny bit and he never complained once!  He just put down his crutches and did what needed to be done as if it were no big deal!

The weather was making everyone very nervous as well since it was predicted to be cold and rainy and both the ceremony and reception were outdoors.  All the worries turned out to be in vain because the sky cleared and it ended up being a beautiful day! (Click to see the rest of the photos from this beautiful day!)

I want to give a ton of credit to Katie for how unbelievably beautiful, cute, and personal everything at her wedding was.  Katie LOVED planning her wedding and all the incredible amount of detail that she put into it really showed through when all was said and done!

0069(This is a fortune Katie got over a year ago and she saved it just so she could get this exact picture on her wedding day! Now THAT’S detail… and one eerily accurate fortune cookie!)

00021(Katie bought this paper just to get this picture with the date in it!).

I was also impressed by all the things she either made by hand or had specially made!  Everything from the flower girl’s outfit to the guest favors (Jones soda bottles with one of the engagement photos we took of them on the label).

Everything looked BE-AUTIFUL!  Of course it didn’t look quite as beautiful as the bride did (because lets face it, nothing could look as good as she did)!

Katie, you did an amazing job on every single little thing that was a part of your wedding and I really enjoyed following you via Facebook on this big wedding planning journey.  It was so fun reading all about the highs and lows that go along with such a life changing event and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it all!

0065(More of the details that made Katie’s wedding beautiful).

00031(I’m so impressed with these shoes!  She matched them perfectly with the lime green that was in the rest of the wedding and then added the bling herself!  Anytime someone adds bling to something, I’m a fan!  Good thinking, Katie!).

(We couldn’t miss an opportunity to get a shot of these shoes!).

One thing I really loved, was how personal all the little touches were.  Lawrence is a police officer, so they decided to play that up and make it a big part of their wedding!  Though I loved all the beautiful, sentimental little things that were at the wedding, my favorite wedding detail was the one with a sense of humor… the Mr. Potato Head decked out in his cop gear in the center of a donut cake!  It was hilarious!

Some of the police officers were on duty and couldn’t make it to the wedding, so they decided to fly their helicopter over and yell congratulations over the loud speaker!  That was a first for us at a wedding! And that wasn’t the only time cops showed up at this wedding…

Katie’s parents surprised her with a fireworks show during the reception!

However, some of the neighbors nearby interpreted the loud booms as gun shots and called the police!  When the cops arrived, we all thought they were there to congratulate their co-worker on his wedding day.  It was quite a confusing moment… the cops were confused because everyone was just saying hi rather than asking why they were there, and everyone else was confused as to why they were there once they found out they didn’t know Lawrence.  And when gun shots were brought up, the confusion only grew!  It didn’t take long for everyone to figure it out and start laughing about it though!

I want to say a special thanks to Carrie at Stonecreek Golf Club in Phoenix.  Carrie is in charge of the special events at Stonecreek and she was so wonderful to work with on this wedding!  She’s the perfect balance of fun, friendly, and professional. She makes you feel like you’re her best friend but when things call for it, she quickly steps it up a notch and takes charge of the situation.  Not only is Carrie one of our favorite people to work with, but Stonecreek couldn’t be a better location for a wedding!

It’s a stunning golf course with the Camelback Mountains and Squaw Peak as the backdrop.  The outdoor covered reception area is set up so that it can be tailored well to each individual wedding (and of course Carrie will work to help figure out what that means for each unique couple)!  We recommend that anyone planning a wedding considers Stonecreek Golf Club as the place to have it!

This wedding really was a blast!  With all the great decor, the interesting events, and this great couple… how could it be called anything other than perfect?!

Thank you so much Katie and Lawrence!  You are both awesome people and we had a great time working with you.  Lawrence, seriously thank you for humoring us as we moved you around and posed you despite the pain you were probably in…we felt so bad and we were tempted to say, “ah, forget pictures, you just go sit on the couch and relax!” but I think your bride might have killed us and rightfully so! ;-).  Thank you so much for allowing us into your lives during such a momentous time for you. We’ve really loved getting to know you and we wish you the best!  We hope you LOVED your wedding day and that you are enjoying your first Christmas as husband and wife! We’ll stay in touch with you for sure!
